A 90 Minute Online Session That Will Give You A Solid Draft Of Your Ideal Birth Plan
YOUR NEXT CHANCE TO ATTEND IN 2020
Thursday March 12th, 2020 12-1:30pm (Adelaide Time)
Identifying and articulating what to put on your ideal birth plan isn't always easy.
There are so many templates and how-to's out there. But what they don't take into account is your individual situation. Your beliefs and values around birth, who you are as a person and who you want to be as a parent all play a big part in writing your plan.
Your ideal birth plan isn't just a check-box list of whether or not you want pain relief medication or delayed cord clamping or having the drapes lowered during your c-section.
It's a communication tool for you (and your partner) and those who are caring for you.
Why Does It Matter?
The power of a written birth plan is in helping you to understand all the options available to you. As the saying goes "If you don't know your options, then you don't have any".
For example: did you know that the medical staff have to ask your permission before they do anything to you? This includes cervical checks, starting any medications or prenatal testing. Yes, you have the right to accept or decline any of these things!
Knowing what you want or don't want for your birth can help filter the care provider you choose. If you don't want a vaginal birth, then it makes sense not to choose an obstetrician with a 63% caesarean rate. It's like walking into a McDonalds and expecting a 3-course degustation menu with silver service. It's not gonna happen!
Your birth plan is a great communication tool for midwives and obstetricians to refer to while you are busy birthing your baby. It also makes it easier for your partner or birth support team to know what you want and help advocate for your choices.
No more needing to explain your preferences any time a shift change happens in the hospital. This saves an immense amount of stress, time and your precious energy.

What You'll Get From This 90 Minute Call:
We will take the time during our call to for you to write up the four levels of your ideal birth plan. It won't be perfect just yet, but it will be the clearest thing you've ever written on what you want from your birth.
You'll get the chance to share what you've come up with and get feedback from myself, an experienced doula, and from the other participants.
By the end of the call you'll have a great first birth plan in progress that you can refine and polish as your pregnancy progresses and as you do more research and collaborate with those involved in your care.
These workshops are for any pregnant person who wants to have a say in how they are cared for and be involved in any decision making processes about themselves and their baby.
I charge $75 per hour for my regular birth coaching and planning sessions. You'll be getting my guidance and feedback for 90 minutes for $25.
Spaces are limited so that everyone has the chance to receive feedback from the group and ask questions.
Watch the video below and make some notes of what I've outlined. Write down your answers to the questions and discuss them with the people who are supporting your birth. Even if you can't make the online session, this video will be of huge value to your birth planning.
PS If you can't make the session live at the time ... There will be a recording but a lot of the session is very hands on. It's people getting shit done so there may be a lot of silence as people write and the individual feedback may not be relevant to those who aren't in the session.
If you can't make it, I recommend diving into the video above and trying the process out on your own. You can book an individual birth planning session with me.
