Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing your placenta after birth, dehydrating it and placing the resulting material into capsules.
Many families choose placenta encapsulation as a personal way to acknowledge the work their body has done during pregnancy and birth.
Placenta capsules are not a registered therapeutic good. I don't make claims about what taking placenta capsules will or won't do for you. What I can provide is a carefully handled, hygienic preparation service and honest information so you can make your own informed choice. You may also like to read through my blog for what past clients have thought about my service.
Yes. Most families book during pregnancy so everything is organised before baby arrives.
I take a limited number of bookings each month, so booking ahead is recommended. If you're still deciding, you're also welcome to get in touch for a no-pressure chat.
Pricing depends on the package and options you choose. You can see the current packages and pricing on my Placenta Encapsulation & Keepsakes page.
You can enquire or book through my website. I'll provide the information you need, answer any questions and confirm availability before your booking is finalised.
If you'd prefer to talk things through first, you're welcome to get in touch for a free, no-pressure chat.
Your placenta should be kept cold as soon as possible after birth. I'll provide instructions on the booking form and before your due date so you know what to do after your baby arrives.
If you're giving birth in hospital, you can also discuss their procedures for storing and releasing your placenta with your care team.
I generally arrange collection as soon as possible after your baby's birth, usually within 24 hours depending on your location and when your baby arrives.
If there is going to be a delay, I'll give you instructions about keeping your placenta appropriately chilled or frozen until collection can take place. If you're ever unsure, just message me and we'll sort out the best plan together.
Yes. I can collect your placenta from you at public and private hospitals across Adelaide & Mt Barker as part of my service, so you don't need to worry about driving around while you're focused on your new baby.
I'll provide the information you need before your due date so you know what to do when your baby arrives.
Yes. If you'd prefer to bring your placenta to me, we can arrange a suitable time, and I'll provide instructions for keeping it chilled during transport. This is a great way to make the service even more affordable.
If your placenta is sent to pathology, it will be unsuitable for encapsulation.
You can ask your care team to take a swab in your birth room as well as a sample of the cord, membranes and placenta and keep the rest for encapsulation.
My collection service covers the Adelaide metro area. If you're birthing further afield, reach out anyway. Depending on your location, chilled transport or a drop off arrangement may still work, and I'm happy to talk through the options with you.
Get in touch with your location and I'll let you know what your options are.
That's okay. Babies don't always follow the plan!
Once your baby arrives, just let me know as soon as you can and I'll work with you around the arrangements you've already made.
No problem at all. Your booking follows your baby's timeline, whenever that turns out to be. There's nothing you need to rebook or change.
Once I have your placenta, the preparation process typically takes 48 hours, depending on the preparation method and timing of your booking, or if your placenta has been frozen.
I'll keep you updated about the expected completion and arrange delivery of your finished order as soon as it is ready.
Finished orders are usually hand-delivered to you depending on what option you have chosen. For clients outside of Adelaide, your package will be express-posted to your address with tracking. Your package will include your prepared capsules and any keepsakes included in your chosen package, along with written information about the service.
